January 2012 - Bon Accord Centre Completion

The Bon Accord Centre in Aberdeen has recently completed its major refurbishment with Ora Ceramics supplying over 6500 square metres of floor tiles. The cool white and grey tones of the tiles compliment perfectly the Centres new sleek and elegant look. As well as looking the part the tiles will also act the part by retaining their aesthetic for many years to come. The laser etched anti - slip tiles at the entrance areas fulfil legal criteria whilst, by the nature of their treatment, still blend in perfectly with the scheme.

Ora also supplied tiles to the Food Court area in the Centre. A porcelain wood effect tile was specified which offers many benefits over natural wood flooring. Porcelain is inert, colourfast and extremely durable, three main factors to be taken into consideration when specifying for an area such as this.

Retailer and public feedback to the new Centre has been very positive. So, another happy client and another successful project for the team at Ora!

Christmas and New Year 2011

October 2011 - Radio Lollipop

On the 7th of October we attended a masked ball in support of "Radio Lollipop". This fantastic charity provides care, comfort and entertainment for children in hospital. The event was a great success with over £15,000 raised for Radio Lollipop on the night. A big thank you to all our guests who entered the spirit of the night and donated generously! 

September 2011 - Cersaie

We have recently returned from Bolgona after visiting "Cersaie", the worlds foremost ceramic and porcelain tile exhibition. The latest in tile trends were on display such as the new series from Rex, "Pietra Del Nord". This beautiful range replicates ancient European stone and will be a fantastic addition to our portfolio. Samples of Pietra Del Nord will be available soon.

June 2011 - Ora specified for National Indoor Sports Arena

The National Indoor Sports Arena and Velodrome, currently being constructed in Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, will soon be "sporting" tiles from Ora Ceramics! The showers and changing areas are being supplied with special "anti-slip" floor tiles, with matching "matt finish" tiles for the dry floor areas. The scheme also involves wall tiling to compliment the flooring. We are very proud to be associated with this prestigious project and are looking forward to the completion of this fantastic facility.

May 2011 - Geotech Unveiled

We are delighted to add the latest fabulous range from Floor Gres to our portfolio. Geotech is a porcelain tile which replicates fossilised wood. It is available in six colours, three different surface finishes and seven formats, including the brand new 80x80cm size. Samples of Geotech are now available.

May 2011 - A Big Thank You!

The fantastic sum of over £5800 was raised at this years Charity Golf Day for St John's Hospital. Thankfully the weather stayed mainly dry for the golf and the evenings entertainment was enjoyed by all. A huge thank you to our sponsors and guests for their incredible generosity once again this year!

May 2011 - St John's Nominated Charity for Golf Day

St John's Hospital in Livingston is this years nominated charity beneficiary for our forthcoming Golf Day. This annual event held at Deer Park Golf and Country Club in Livingston is now in it's sixth year and has grown hugely since it's inception. Last years event raised over £6000 for Erskine Hospital and we are hoping to better that amount this year. The event has become a firm favourite in the diaries of many golfers who all enjoy the challenge of the "infamous" 10th hole, where a hole in one wins the lucky golfer a brand new Lexus! We would like to thank all our partners for their considerable support once again this year.

April 2011 - Ora Wins Shopping Mall Contract

Last month Ora Ceramics were awarded the contract to supply the tiles to the Bon Accord Shopping Mall in Aberdeen. The Bon Accord is to undergo a large refurbishment programme, with the floor areas, estimated at 6000 square metres, being a substantial part of the revamp.

Our brief was to find a product which not only looked modern and chic, but also met the technical requirements a tile must have in an installation of this nature. Another challenge we faced was that the tiles were getting fixed onto an existing tiled floor, so it was imperative that the correct fixing materials were specified.

Working closely with our Italian partner, Floor Gres, we introduced to the architect and the client a product which was perfect for their requirements. The cool grey colour fitted their scheme superbly and the latest in technical laser etching provided the required anti-slip rating for the mall entrance areas. Mapei UK provided the complete solution to how the tiles should be fixed and provided the architect with an NBS specification. With the guarantee we provided with the product, the Bon Accord shoppers will enjoy sleek and elegant floors for many years to come!

Ora also supplied 1000 square metres to the neighbouring St Nicholas Shopping Mall in 2008.
